On Saturday, at Roland Garros, Andreeva defeated Poland's qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 in the women's singles French Open final. With this win, Andreeva became the youngest female tennis star to win the French Open since 1992. Previously, Monica Seles had won the title for the third consecutive time at the age of 18.
Andreeva, ranked eighth in the world, was in superb form throughout the tournament. On the other hand, Chwalinska, ranked 114th, surprised everyone by reaching the final as a qualifier. She was dreaming of becoming the first qualifier in history to win at Roland Garros, but ultimately she had to stop in front of Andreeva.
