International Crimes Tribunal-2 today, Tuesday, handed down death sentences to Obaidul Quader, as well as Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, former State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, Chairman of the banned Jubo League, Mainul Hossain Khan, General Secretary of the banned Jubo League, Saddam Hossain, Central President of the banned Chhatra League, and Sheikh Wali Asif Inan, General Secretary of the banned Chhatra League. All seven convicted accused are absconding.
Mosharraf Hossain, father of July martyr Meherunnesa Tanha, was present at International Crimes Tribunal-2 during the verdict announcement. Speaking to journalists at the tribunal premises after the verdict, he stated that he was satisfied with the judgment. The verdict also stipulated that half of the properties of five of the accused should be given to July martyrs and injured individuals. He demanded that this be distributed through the July Foundation, not through the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, to the July martyrs and injured. Mosharraf Hossain also demanded the arrest of the convicted absconding accused and the execution of their death sentences.
