Mian Golam Parwar spoke on the matter in response to journalists' questions after an event at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail, Dhaka, this Monday afternoon. Earlier, Parwar delivered a speech as the chief guest at the Siratunnabi (PBUH) Conference organized by the National Doctors Forum Dhaka South Metropolitan.
After his speech at the conference, Mian Golam Parwar, in response to a journalist's question, stated that Jamaat has taken organizational preparations for the local government elections. The process of candidate nomination for union, upazila, district, and city corporations has already reached its final stage. Candidates have been announced internally in many places.
Mian Golam Parwar further stated that Jamaat will also participate in the elections for Dhaka's two city corporations, adding that Jamaat's candidates have been nominated organizationally, but not yet officially announced. The candidates will be declared in due course. It has already been reported in the media that Selim Uddin is being nominated by Jamaat for Dhaka North and Sadiq Kayem for Dhaka South.
The Election Commission has not yet announced the dates for the Dhaka's two city corporation elections. However, political parties have already started the process of selecting candidates for these two city elections. Yesterday, at a press conference, the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) announced the nomination of Nasiruddin Patwari for the mayoral post in Dhaka South and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan for Dhaka North.
