Consequently, the counting of the holy month of Rabi-us-Sani will begin from tomorrow, Sunday. As a result, the holy Fateha-e-Yazdaham will be celebrated on September 23.
The decision was made at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Baitul Mukarram conference hall of the Islamic Foundation on Saturday evening (September 12).
The meeting was chaired by the Minister for Religious Affairs, Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad.
The National Moon Sighting Committee made this decision after reviewing information received from all district administrations, the head office of the Islamic Foundation, divisional and district offices, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and the Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO) regarding the sighting of the moon for the holy month of Rabi-us-Sani of 1448 Hijri.
Present at the meeting were Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi, Director General (Grade-1) of the Islamic Foundation; A. H. M. Kamruzzaman, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Kamrul Islam, Chief News Editor of Bangladesh Television; Dr. Mohammad Harunur Rashid, Director of the Dini Dawat and Culture Department of the Islamic Foundation; Md. Mominul Islam, Director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department; Dr. Muhammad Shahidul Islam, Chief Scientific Officer of the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO); Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan, Joint Secretary of the Cabinet Division; Sadeq Ahmed, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Mirza Ghulam Saburu, Assistant Commissioner of the Dhaka District Commissioner's Office; Maulana Dr. Ghulam Mohiuddin Ikram, Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh.
