In connection with this incident, two dealers have been fined a total of 90,000 Taka. The raids were conducted on Friday (September 11) afternoon at Tongua Bazar and Pakerhat in the upazila.
The two establishments fined in the operation are M/s Asaduzzaman Traders of Tongua Bazar and M/s Mahadev Traders of Pakerhat.
On Friday afternoon, a mobile court raided M/s Asaduzzaman Traders, a BCIC-approved dealer establishment in Tongua Bazar, Khanasama. During the raid, 207 sacks of fertilizer were seized, including 94 sacks of DAP, 55 sacks of Urea, and 58 sacks of MOP fertilizer. In this incident, the judge of the mobile court fined the establishment 50,000 Taka.
On the same day, a raid was conducted at the warehouse of M/s Mahadev Traders in the Pakerhat area, where 450 sacks of fertilizer were seized. In connection with this incident, BADC fertilizer dealer Mohitosh Chandra Chanda was fined 40,000 Taka, and the warehouse was sealed.
Earlier, on Thursday (September 10), acting on a tip-off, the administration raided a warehouse belonging to Ronnie Traders in Pakerhat Bazar and seized approximately 920 sacks of fertilizer. As the warehouse owner, Md. Mojaharul Islam, was not present during the operation, a case was filed against him. With this, a total of 1577 sacks of fertilizer have been seized from three fertilizer dealers in Khanasama upazila over two days.
Upazila Executive Officer Md. Kamruzzaman Sarkar stated that these operations are aimed at protecting the interests of farmers, preventing an artificial crisis of fertilizer, and ensuring the supply of fertilizer at government-fixed prices.
