A court has ordered the show arrest of top terrorist Mobarak Hossain Emon alias David Emon (25) in the murder case of businessman Aftab Uddin Tahsin, which occurred in the Shamsher Para area under Chandgaon Police Station in Chittagong city. On Tuesday (August 25, 2026), the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Fahmida Sattar issued this sensational order, which is considered a significant turning point in the investigation of the case. David Emon is the son of the late Md. Musa from the Kanchannagar area of Fatikchhari Upazila and faces multiple allegations of criminal activities.
According to court sources, businessman Aftab Uddin Tahsin was publicly shot dead in the Shamsher Para area around 4:30 PM on September 21, 2024. Following this brutal murder, the victim's father, Md. Musa, filed a murder case at Chandgaon Police Station against a total of five individuals, including top terrorist Sajjad Hossain. The other accused in the case were Sajjad's associates Md. Hasan, Mohammad, Khorshed alias cousin Khorshed, and Md. Helal. Since the filing of the case, the police have been conducting intensive operations to apprehend the main culprits.
The deceased Tahsin was involved in the brick and sand business. Sand and bricks brought for his business were stored in the Udupara area of Shamsher Para. On the day of the incident, a truckload of sand was brought for storage around 4:15 PM, and Tahsin was present at the scene at that time. According to the First Information Report (FIR), shortly after, top terrorist Sajjad Hossain arrived there in a microbus with his associates, shot businessman Tahsin, and quickly fled the scene, causing widespread panic in the area.
Mohammad Hasan Iqbal Chowdhury, DC (Prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), informed the media that an application was filed in court to show arrest Mobarak Hossain Emon alias David Emon in the 2024 Aftab Uddin Tahsin murder case. The court granted the application after the hearing. He further noted that a total of seven cases under various sections are pending against David Emon with the CMP. He stated that applications would be made to the court to show his arrest in these serious cases sequentially, indicating the extensive nature of his criminal activities.
On July 29, David Emon and four others were arrested from the Jhumjhumpur area under Kotwali Police Station in Jashore. Following his arrest, there is a possibility that the mysteries of several sensational cases in Chittagong will be unravelled. According to Chittagong District Police sources, David Emon's location was identified based on information obtained during the investigation of the Maksudul Haque Chowdhury murder case, which occurred in the Pahartali area on June 13, and subsequent intelligence operations. It is believed that this arrest will also accelerate the investigation of other cases against him.
Based on information provided by the arrested accused, an operation was conducted in an abandoned house in the Manikpur area of Kanchannagar Union, Fatikchhari, in the early hours of July 30. During this operation, a foreign pistol, two local LGs (light guns), and other local weapons were recovered, further proving David Emon's terrorist activities.
