A sensational murder incident has occurred in Kaunia Upazila of Rangpur district. Police recovered the throat-slit body of a young man named Abu Siddique (35) from a secluded road in Char Chatra village, Haragachh municipal area, on Sunday night. This brutal incident has created deep fear and concern among locals. The cause of the murder or the identity of those involved could not be immediately confirmed, but police have promptly launched an investigation to unravel the mystery. The deceased Abu Siddique was the son of Raja Mia from Pallimari Hok's Bazar area of Haragachh Union.
According to local sources, around 10:30 PM on Sunday, pedestrians spotted a body lying on the secluded road in Char Chatra village and informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Haragachh police quickly arrived at the scene. Police recovered the body and found multiple sharp weapon wounds on the victim's neck and face, indicating he was brutally killed by having his throat slit. After initial inquest, the body was sent to the morgue of Rangpur Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. A terrifying situation prevails throughout the entire area due to this incident.
The victim's relatives and local Ward No. 7 member Obaidur Rahman Ebad stated that Abu Siddique had left his home on Sunday evening and gone to Milon Bazar in Lalmonirhat Sadar. Milon Bazar is located adjacent to Char Chatra village, which marks the end boundary of Haragachh municipal town in Kaunia Upazila. It is presumed that he was attacked by miscreants either on his way back home from the market or while passing through that secluded road for some other purpose. Around 9 PM, relatives learned that Siddique's body was lying on a road in Char Chatra village. A pall of gloom descended upon the relatives after receiving this news.
Ashok Chauhan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Haragachh Police Station under Rangpur Metropolitan Police, confirmed the incident, stating that immediately after receiving the news, he along with a police team arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and brought it to the police station. The OC further stated that judging by the nature of the murder, it appears to be premeditated. The killers murdered Abu Siddique in a very cold-blooded and ruthless manner. The identities of those involved in this murder could not be immediately confirmed. However, police have launched intensive efforts to unravel the mystery of the murder.
Police are initially investigating various possible motives for the murder, including personal enmity, past disputes, land-related conflicts, financial transactions, or robbery. Police did not provide detailed information on whether any significant evidence was collected from the crime scene. However, it is presumed that police attempted to collect fingerprints and other forensic evidence from the scene, which could aid the investigation. Efforts are also underway to find any clues by reviewing CCTV footage (if available) from the surrounding areas.
