By this criterion, Matthäus believes Harry Kane is significantly ahead of others. He described Kane's recently concluded season with Bayern Munich as 'outstanding'. Alongside the English striker's individual performance, Bayern's two domestic title victories under his leadership also served as a strong argument in his favor. However, even more crucial for Matthäus was the absence of any significant dip in Kane's performance throughout the entire season.
According to Matthäus's analysis, Harry Kane maintained the same level of consistency from the beginning to the end of the season. His regular and effective impact in scoring goals and in the team's attack was remarkable. Matthäus firmly believes that this uninterrupted consistency has placed him ahead of other potential Ballon d'Or candidates. He thinks that a player can truly be called the best only when they deliver high-quality performances over a prolonged period. Kane has met that standard, which sets him apart from others.
